5 Inspiring Creativity Quotes

It can be rather frighting to come up with new and useful ideas. However, when we understand that creativity is also about those smaller ideas, like setting up a signup box for your newsletter, creating a new recipe or finding a new place where you work from, it can be a lot easier to intentionally practice being creative.

Quotes can be very encouraging and make it less frighting to practice being creative and come up with new and useful ideas so I have gathered five creativity related quotes that I find very inspirational.

Here are the quotes:

You can’t use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have. – Maya Angelou

This is one of my favourite quotes about creativity. It reminds me of being creative each and everyday, because that truly adds up to hours that I practice using my creativity and by practicing I can increase my creativity.

It’s not just about creativity, it’s about the person you’re becoming while you’re creating. – Charlie Peacock

Knowing your WHY is truly important as Simon Sinek talks about in a very popular TED talk. Ask yourself, why do you want to be more creative? Who do you want to become?

Creativity is intelligence having fun – Albert Einstein

I really like this quote, it reminds me of having fun which is very important for creativity according to research. Make your whole life full of fun things; tell stories, jump around, be in nature, play hide and seek, paint, play card games and do whatever is fun for you. Being playful can also be beneficial for your work outcomes, performance and more.

If you can dream it you can do it – Walt Disney

Wikipedia: Walt Disney

Set yourself free and dream big because it can be very beneficial for your creativity. Grab a pen and paper and write down your dreams and then write another version of your dreams that is a 10x bigger version of your dreams.

Now imagine that someone that is very close to you is sick and you can save them if you make your dream come true, what would you do? What solutions can you think of to reach your dream? And if you believe that your solutions are too crazy to be accomplished come up with solutions to make the other solution possible and so forth :)

Think left and think right and think low and think high. Oh, the thinks you can think up if only you try. – Dr. Seuss

Wikipedia: Ted Geisel (Dr. Seuss)

Creativity is a thought process and you can use special methods to challenge yourself to think differently. For example, you can pick a random word and connect your problem to that word to come up with solutions. You can pick your random word by opening up a book and the first word you see is your random word.

Now let’s say that the problem that you want to solve is how to sell more products. Your random word is ‘bottle’. But how is this related? For example, bottles come in different sizes. Could you sell different sizes of your product? Bottles can be used as a vase or for candles. Can your product be used for something else to reach new customers? Bottles with beverage inside can be bought in six-packs, cartons and other quantities together. Can you sell your product in a bundle? What else does selling more and bottles have in common?

If only you try

What will you create today? What is your dream? What can you create that will impact your life a lot? Who do you want to become?
